Hilary Clarcq (b. 1983) creates mood-driven, figurative oil paintings that combine realism with expressive abstraction. Often surreal and dream-like, her work favors symbolism over literal narrative. She has exhibited with galleries such as Abend Gallery, Helikon Gallery, and Every Day Original, and her work has been recognized by Illustration West and Infected by Art. In 2019, she was one of three artists selected for the Muddy Colors Rising Stars Award. She has a B.A. in Fine Art and English from the University of Colorado, but she is self-taught as an oil painter. Hilary was born in upstate New York and currently lives in Boulder, Colorado.
