Stephen Day: Landscape artist capturing moods of western sunsets

Stephen Day paints small panels of imagery quickly on location allowing him to capture spontaneous and fresh response to his environment.  Back in the studio, Stephen re-establishes the emotional sense of the landscapes by utilizing the small reference paintings enlarging the scene and bringing the light and dark values into focus with painterly quality. Stephen Day paints landscapes of Northern New Mexico and the Colorado Rocky Mountains.
