Raj Chaudhuri began painting during his childhood in Calcutta, India. After living many places across the world, Raj moved to Denver in 1998; since then he has received most of his art training at the Art Students League of Denver. Studying under artists Mark Daily, Quang Ho and Kevin Weckbach for 5 years, he has developed his technical skills as well as artistic abilities as a painter. Though painting is his first love, his first career has been in computers. A senior consultant at Computer Sciences Corporation, he is a software developer and graphic designer for the past 12 years, building enterprise web applications for companies such as AT&T, Coors and the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. But painting has always been his passion and he is about to embark on his new career as a full time oil painter. He has recently had paintings accepted at the Englewood Arts National Juried Art Show.
Having the viewer be engaged in his paintings through context and composition is Raj’s focus. The subject matter varies greatly from people to cityscapes and landscapes. He has painted people and scenes in Prague, Calcutta, and here at home in Denver. From a multi-talented family, Raj’s younger brother is a musician and student of orchestral conducting in Prague. Raj lives here in Denver with his wife and an enormous Labrador named Alex.
